Technical type plates made of aluminium or stainless steel provide the most important data about a machine or device: manufacturer, model, year of manufacture, serial number, weight and other important information. Customers engrave or emboss the individual data in the fields provided for this purpose. Type plates can be self-adhesive. They are often provided with two or four holes so that the plate can be riveted or screwed on.
Most type plates are made of aluminium. The text can be printed. However, the tried-and-tested anodised quality is very often chosen. With these plates, the printed colours are embedded in aluminium oxide that has been artificially reinforced by the anodising process. The oxide layer is transparent and thus protects the print. Only anodised colours can be used for anodised plates, which have a typical finish and are therefore easy to identify. Black and blue dominate the colours in combination with the silver tone of the aluminium. The colour tolerances for anodised signs can be relatively large and therefore require a certain tolerance for colour deviations on the part of the customer. Stainless steel type plates are often etched and the recessed etched parts are painted
